Next Generation is a unique high-flyers’ programme for top-flight councillors destined to be the leaders of the future. It was launched in 2006 and has the continued support of the government, the Conservative and Liberal Democrat national leadership. The programme covers policy and strategy, community leadership, political management and personal skill development and is aimed at committed councillors who have already demonstrated flair or a potential for leadership at a local level and have the capacity to develop politically.

The Leadership Centre is offering each of the four LGA political groups the opportunity to nominate around 20 councillors to participate in their party’s unique programme.

Unlike the IDeA Leadership Academy programme, participants are involved with councillors from their own political party for the duration of the course.
