Knowledge management

Creating, sharing and building learning

Local Government Leadership continually aspires to create spaces and opportunities to share what we are learning about leadership and we value processes of building learning into our practices to create real tangible change.  We encourage the development and sharing of learning, often through events and building networks as well as publications, within both long term programmes such as the Leeds Castle Leadership programme or Total Place, as agenda setting themes like behaviour change.

Total Place

A good example of our approach to knowledge management is work associated with the Total Place programme, where we are supporting the 13 pilot areas with a community of practice, both online, and face-to-face and the training and development of local learning and knowledge managers who are acquiring skills around facilitation of dialogue and supportive techniques for learning through difficult change.

There is also a Total Place website which will evolve with the programme to support a process of engagement through action; we will be co-ordinating a variety of events across the public sector as forums for sharing; and we will also be producing several different publications, a piece of academic research and regular learning updates to be shared broadly.

Visit the Total Place website.

Our network

We work closely with an exclusive group of the foremost experts in leadership development in the country, both managerial and political who have been handpicked for their experience of tackling the issues that challenge local authorities today.
